Wellbeing and Mental Health
At Tarves Primary School and Nursery, the importance of mental health and wellbeing is paramount and at the heart of everything we do.
Mindfulness is the practice of noticing and paying attention to what is happening in your mind and body in the present moment. Not only are there huge benefits for our children, but also for parents/carers and staff. If children see adults actively taking part and doing it with them, they are more likely to join in. Research has shown that by relaxing and focusing on something as simple as our breath, children can improve attention, concentration, behaviour and sleep. By relaxing our nervous system, it allows blood to reach all parts of our body which can reduce blood pressure and boost our immune system; something we all need. This is also extremely beneficial for any children that suffer from ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Dyslexia or have trouble sleeping.
Resources for Mindfulness

ASN Resources
At Tarves Primary and Nursery we support all pupils and have created this page to offer further information for children with Additional Support Needs (ASN). This is by no means a comprehensive guide, just some links to further information if you would like to learn more.
