Welcome to Skene Primary School

Skene School is situated half a mile west of the village of Kirkton of Skene, with Westhill and Elrick creeping closer all the time. The view from the school playing field is of the Loch of Skene with the Tower Lodges of Dunecht Estate, which are featured in our School logo, in the foreground.

The catchment area includes the villages of Kirkton of Skene and Garlogie and surrounding rural areas, as well as areas of Westhill and Elrick. The school liaises closely with the three local primary schools – Crombie, Elrick and Westhill and our local secondary school, Westhill Academy, to which the children transfer at the end of Primary 7.

There are currently 81 pupils in the school.  We have four teaching areas for session 2019-20. P1/2, P3/4 and P5/6 are taught in the three class areas within the main building. This building also contains a multi-purpose hall, administrative areas, a staff room and a library area. Pupils in P6/7 are taught in the large, bright class in the relocatable unit. School meals are prepared daily on the school premises and served in the hall. Two tarred playing areas and a full sized football pitch allow the children ample space to let off steam, as well as providing excellent scope for outdoor learning.

Seating areas, including two covered shelters, are available to those children who are looking for a bit of peace and quiet. A playground supervisor is on hand to ensure that the children are safe and happy during their breaks.
